A Right Royal Baby Foot Cast

The birth of the royal baby is possibly the most keenly anticipated event of 2013, and could be the most eagerly awaited birth ever.  Here at Image Casting, we’d like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on the birth of His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge on 22 July; a birth which has whipped the media, Royalists and, let’s face it, most of the county into a frenzy of celebration.

We’re sure to all be excitedly watching the progress of the new Royal Family, and there are bound to be a few traditions which Kate and Wills are likely to follow too.  Of course, if you’re a new mum, you may disagree that it’s the most eagerly anticipated new arrival of 2013, as you’ll have your own preciously new bundle of joy to celebrate.  One thing’s for sure, if you’re a new parent, you too can follow in the footsteps of royal baby traditions: with a beautiful baby hand cast or baby foot cast.

Royal Baby Traditions

The announcement of the new royal baby followed the traditional protocol whereby an official document was signed by Kate’s doctor, whisked away to Buckingham Palace and posted in a gilt frame in the palace grounds on the same easel used for the announcement of Prince William’s birth 31 years ago, although not before the news hit the Royal press wire. And the town criers were in full voice too around Westminster.

But other bygone royal traditions have also included creating baby foot casts! Queen Victoria, who was blessed with nine children, commissioned sculptor Mary Thornycroft to capture her children’s hands and feet in alabaster casts.  These were later sculpted in marble, to capture the memories of the Royal children’s tiny and fingers and toes forever. Will the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge follow this tradition?  Or will they opt for a more modern resin baby foot cast or baby hand cast? Or maybe real bronze or sterling silver?  We would certainly recommend that the royal couple captures the first few weeks of Prince George’s life – those days are so precious, so joy-filled, and before they know it, he will be a little prince, and no longer the tiny baby that he is now.

Royal Baby Gifts

Royals imagePrince George is sure to be spoilt with hundreds of gifts, and has already received a variety of presents from dignitaries, celebrities and well wishers.  As well as cute-as-a-button designer booties, hampers of organic treats and a song dedicated by Hayley Westenra on her new album, the Finnish government sent a rather interesting package which, as well as the traditional baby clothes, also included the likes of a balaclava and bra pads, not to mention other weird and wonderful items!

Of course, beautiful baby keepsakes are always a good choice of baby gift, so will the new parents be blessed with a baby hand cast or baby foot cast?  If you know a new parent, whether Royal or not, a beautiful resin cast, finished in silver or bronze, is an ideal present, as it preserves all of those precious memories from the first days of the baby’s life. And if you’re a new parent, why not treat yourself?  After all, your little prince or princess is just as worthy of the royal treatment!
