Celebrating the Milestones of Baby Growth

From the moment your little treasure is welcomed into the world, they begin to grow at somewhat of an alarming rate! Most of us want the little bundles of joy to stay little so that we can hold on to the cuteness and innocence forever. Alas, here at Image Casting, we can’t slow down time, or stop it altogether. What we can do is provide a unique and special method of remembering these precious memories so that you can cherish the moment forever. We’ve put together some suggestions on the best ways to celebrate those key milestones, so you can look back on the keepsakes fondly for years to come.

As always, development will differ amongst babies, and their growth can be determined by a wealth of reasons. Everyone’s journey as a parent will be different, so below you will find a flexible guide of developments to celebrate, regardless of age, and the best baby keepsakes to commemorate these milestones.
Baby Casts

After recovering from the birth and spending a couple of weeks in a flurry of friends and relatives ‘popping in’, you are now beginning to settle into parenthood, whether it’s for the first time or the fifth! One of the first things you’ll notice is just how Every line, fold and crease is replicated with a foot castdelicate your baby’s hands and feet are. Their tiny little fingers and toes are beyond cute, although, sadly, won’t stay this way for long! The best way to capture this properly is with the casting of the baby’s hands and feet. This will provide a true 3D likeness, revealing all the creases, lines and folds that change so rapidly during this precious time.
One great thing about baby casts is that you could get several done throughout the year and accurately represent the growth of your baby in their first year on this planet. Again, each parent may choose different times to get the casts, and that is completely up to you. We recommend 2 to 4 casting sessions within the year, starting at newborn age and finishing as close to their first birthday as possible.

The casts are available in silver or bronze resin if you’d like them framed, or in real bronze, glass or sterling silver if they are freestanding, but however they are presented, they’re bound to take pride of place in your home. A unique keepsake that will be treasured for years to come by parents, grandparents, and even the children themselves. This is a fantastic way to observe the development and recognise key milestones such as three, six, nine and 12 months old keep them close to your heart forever.

Miniatures

Example of a miniatureOnce you’ve made a baby cast, one truly unique gift to recognise a milestone such as a first birthday is with a miniature. The real-life replica of your baby girl or boy’s hands or feet can be made into a pendant or charm and worn as jewellery, or given as a keyring. A gift of such sentiment will be treasured by your child forever, and perhaps saved for momentous occasions in their life, where they can think of the journey they’ve had until this point and, of course, their ever-doting parents! These can then be given as and when you deem appropriate when they are older, like cufflinks for your young man’s first prom or a bracelet for a daughter’s sweet 16th birthday.

Mementoes

Example of a dummy castSome babies will have important toys, blankets or dummies that the thought of losing simply doesn’t bear thinking about. These
comforters can be anything, and can often be what you least expect; worthless, yet invaluable in sentiment. A great way to remember how it was once the most important thing in your baby’s life is to get it cast. While keeping old dummies might be considered as a nice gesture, they don’t make for aesthetically pleasing mementoes and could even, in some cases, be considered unhygienic! Opt for a casting of the treasured item to make sure it remains in the family forever, and offer comfort should anything happens to the real thing.

The casting of hands and feet can take place either from the comfort of your own home with one of our easy-to-use casting kits, a visit from one of our friendly and dedicated team or with a trip to our studio in Battersea, London. If you’d like a further discussion about casting a momento or creating a timeline of casts with one of our knowledgeable experts, do not hesitate to contact us today, where we will be able to create a bespoke baby package that’s right for you and your family.
